I ended up getting a 155/80 for my spare in the 69 based Woodie. I still ended up deflating it pretty much. You can try that with your tire and if it works, get one of those $15 compressors to fill it if you need it. I received a piece of advice just before pulling the trigger on buying a 145/15 tire and having it mounted... (these are expensive tires by the way -- around as many dollars as the tire is wide i.e. $145)
The 165/80/15 just barely fit in my trunk -- it turns out that my poor bug HAD been in a front end collision despite what the PO told me and what my poor investigative skills had revealed... but the welding/repair work is actually quite good! I keep telling myself this.
I digress... someone pointed out that the 165/15 tires (note the lack of ratio height/width number) is typically sized like a 165/70/15.. I found a used 165/15 and it fit! |
