Nice square LA2SD! And welcome aboard. Some of you San Diego guys may have met old Charlie Hassel. He has a 63 notchback that he bought in 63 with 53k on the clock. It was originaly a Ruby Red but has been painted several times by him with a lotus white ending. He personaly contacted a dealer in Germany in late 62 and had this notch brought over. He said he helped neighbors with a T34, 2 squares and a 411. He still owns the notch and I think he said his nephew owns the 411. You may see him tooteling around in Encinitas. He lives right above Moonlight, walking distance from the beach!

Thanks notchboy! I'll definitely keep an eye out for that '63 notch. I can't believe it only has 53K on the clock. Some guys sure know how to plan ahead!

I've always wondered this. Is there a way you can find about the history of your car? I know about the Birth Certificate thing, but how can you find out about PO's and where the car has traveled from and such?

This question first came to my mind with my '64 Chevy. We were cleaning off rust on the inside fender one day when we saw a little tag on it that read "San Diego County" and then a bunch of numbers. The truck also had some crazy holes for holding something on the roof, but no one could figure out what they were for.

Okay, enough rambling. Any ideas how to find the history?

Unless you receive the trail of historical paperwork from either the original owner or all of that which was passed down from one owner to another, it's very hard to track who owned your car unless DMV can help you and I don't know if they will give out that kind of info due to Privacy Act concerns.
