Very cool work ther and a SUPER clean looking bug.

I just cranked my 1385 for the first time last weekend using a 100 cam and the 373 heads, 1.1:1 rockers as well as a '65 case.

I am pretty happy with the results so far. Only about 40 minutes run time on the stand so far though.

That looks great. Great photo too.

I'm definitely interested in hearing the horsepower rating.

One suggestion... I'd paint the regulator casing black so it looks vintage too.

Great looking engine.

So what did this end up doing on the dyno??

It's from Mr Wob in Belgium, via Karmann Konnection in the UK.

Is your left intake manifold offset to the rear slightly to accomodate the left head's more forward location? I checked Riechert's website, and both SP manifolds "appear" to be mirror-image. Quite $$ also! Reason I ask is that I;'m in the process to cut apart some type 3 SP manifolds (Solex 32PDSIT with larger venturies) and welding a short section of pipe spacer to lengthen them for Beetle application. The stock design has the left carb further forward than the right carb. To make the cross-pull carb linkage work, I'd either need to extend the left carb's throttle arm rearward about a good inch, or weld the spacer pipe so that upper part of the manifold positions the carb rearward somewhat.

Mine's all low-budget using leftover parts I already have, for a 1500 engine starting point.

Riechert's set-ups aren't cheap, but they are excellent value - great craftsmanship and ready work straight out if the box. That's a good question about the offset, I'll have a look and get back to you.

Apologies for dredging up a really old thread, but noticed the pic disappeared at the beginning and thought I'd add another...

Still going strong 8 years later btw (although I realise I've just jinxed it now, DOH).
