|
|
Hi,
I use to check in here from time to time and look around at all cool projects and so, but now when I found this old "junk" ( ) I thought it's time to register and maybe get some help or so!
Anyway, yesterday I met an old man who used to work at the local VW-shop. After a little chat he said something like "I have some VW parts at home..."
After that he had me on the hook
To skip som unnessesary BS, when we got there, he started pulling out som "new" NOS-parts (and I became like this -> )...
1 brand "new" decklid
3 brand "new" rear valance (marked "March -55")
1 brand "new" front bumper
So I thought, maybe you guys could help me value those parts?
Sorry for my english, I'm swede |

Just my opinion, but here's what I would think;
If they truly are NOS and don't have too much surface rust....
1 brand "new" decklid - for '53-'55 I've seen changing hands for around $1000, if it is a '50-'52 probably $1300-1500
3 brand "new" rear valance (marked "March -55") -$500, just a guess. As long as they are not single cab ones, as those are identical to a '55-'59 crankstart bus apron
1 brand "new" front bumper- If it's a true long rib, with T nuts welded in for the Lic. plate, I'd say $800-1000. _________________ C-1 |

Sounds good. There are people in need of real Barndoor front doors, it would be nice to get those to people doing restorations. _________________ How to Post Photos

Yeah. Like me.
But no matter what I say for a price, you'll just say that they are worth $100-$200 more... _________________ C-1 |

I don't know a price on NOS doors so I won't d-block you.
Another thing to consider is that you are in Sweden and I'm guessing most of the people that want these heavy parts are not close by so the price may be a bit lower due to the high shipping costs of large & heavy packages. _________________ How to Post Photos

I do understand that there's lots of people wanting parts for their buses, think my inbox went from empty to "full" in about one day
There's a guy here in Sweden that work on a '50, he's also very interested in buying some parts from me. I'm totally "green" to selling "overseas" and so, I usually get stuff picked up
I'm goin' to this old man tomorrow to collect my parts, so I should be able to have some pictures up this weekend!
At least I'll try to have a picture up tomorrow on the decklid |

I'm surprised noone's mentioned there's still a 60/40 chance these parts are from a mid sixties split. _________________ Please buy my Treasure |

You're absolutely right!
The things I'm 100% sure on are:
-rear valance
-decklid
-bumper
-short side panel
-cabin seperation panel
The thing is, I only looked at the parts for a short period of time. Tomorrow I'll picking the parts up!
Anyway, if all the other parts turned out to be newer than BD, I don't care.
How often do you find new NOS-parts? Not often back here anyway! |

Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to put you down with my comment. Normally I would have put the odds at 90/10, but you seem to know more than the average new guy. _________________ Please buy my Treasure |

I'm new on thesamba, not to buses
But anyway, I would be happy if I'd "only" found splitbusparts and not BD-parts |

Hopefully some pictures will end up here today, but first I need to take a shower and get me some dinner! To-dah-loo! |
