Seriously, congrats on making quick work of the valve issue. When you say correct as possible, does that mean high-backs and slotted rims? |
No high-backs for euro-spec cars. I'll probably have stock wheels until I have enough for some wheels. |
If you're building a Standard model, you'd better get single- port heads and a single side- draft, plus the muffler and the heater box with the heat risers. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I think if you copied a panel of the same year you'll get that simple look you are after. |
It's still up in the air, I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to keep it as it came from the factory or build it into a look a like of one of my favorite type 3's. |
I honestly think that by the late 60s, VW was so solid and the T3 range was proven that the later "standards" were a mix and match of what the customer wanted anyway. The 64-65 stuff was for a model that wasnt selling in the US yet so they were more strict on what you got.
So I think any "of the style-intent-flavor" would look cool. And all the other people in our VW world wouldnt even know |
Now, Jason... I know damn well you know better than this. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I'm going to leave the engine as it is. No sense in messing with something that is in good working order. _________________ '68 Sunroof Squareback

Not necessarily, I drive this car everyday and don't have time to completely tear it apart nor do I have the money to buy a single sidedraft setup. Had I decided to keep it a US spec car it would still be incorrect as it is not fuel injected and will likely never be. The car has also been converted to IRS which is also incorrect. I've had this car for nearly 5 years and have been slowly reversing what the previous owners had done to it. Based on what has been posted in this thread it will never be 100% correct, since there were no N model cars built after '65. Just wait until it's finished and then you can pick it apart. _________________ '68 Sunroof Squareback

Yes, Tram. It's going to be a custom car, because it has a dual carb 1600 motor out of a different trim level of the same car and also because of the IRS conversion, which I had no part of. If that makes my car "custom" by any sense of the word then so be it, but if you ask me everything is custom in your opinion. _________________ '68 Sunroof Squareback

Also, if you think my car is custom, you may want to reconsider chopping the roof off of a type34 to make what you call a factory prototype. _________________ '68 Sunroof Squareback

The rocker was the one of the first areas that was fixed on the car. This was over a month ago, but thought I would show some of the cars progress. My friend Brien did all of the metal work for this section, including shaping a rocker from metal cut out of a scrap single cab gate.
This is how the rocker looked after I chipped off all the old filler. The previous owner must have drilled the holes for better airflow.
