Just got my 58 beetle home yesterday & have been cleaning it all out. Has a split case trans & 36hp engine, but i'm not sure about those dates yet. It does have the matching body/pan numbers.

Congrats! Looks like a great project. I love 58-59's, especially in original condition. Looks like the original engine was replaced by an early unit at some point - the case number is from Nov 54. Car was built in Dec 57. I think I have a late 57 case if you want period correct numbers. Let me know.
What are your plans for it? _________________ 1950 Pearl Grey Hoffman Standard Split Window

Thanks! It appears the passenger side was pretty worked over at some point, and has had it's fair share of body work, but yes, i think it will be a fun project. Well the engine, i was hoping for correct 58, but i guess 54 ain't bad I'll check some of my other cases & maybe hit you up for that 57 case |

Great looking 58. I bet with a little work you could get that repaint off and back down to the original capri blue. _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

Got the paint pretty well stripped down to capri blue now, and most of it shines up pretty nice. I found some bondo on the passenger side. Now i need to get the engine running & see if that old trans is any good. Ordered up a birth certificate also.
