This is great news, is there anything that we can send back over the Pond to you? _________________ 1988 Vanagon

Just superb!
It seems huge! I can't imagine all the stuff you can put in the back!
Would make an excellent expedition vehicle.
I love the wheels.
I have the same I think. Audis. But original grey.
Is that easy to get painted? Durable?

I have known this Doka through its developments and it was only today I was watching an old video of it when it was mid way through. It always cracks me up when you see the highly modified yellow petrol Syncro revving its tits off and the concentration of its driver to get up the rocks at 1:16. Note the relaaxed driving and the good relaxed chat Russel is having with his daughter on the way up

Saw this Jeff's place -- Autostadt West. He was finishing up certification for US consumption. He said it was going to Daryl Christensen at AA Transaxle. So my next call went there. I said, "Hey Daryl, I saw your new beast at Jeff's. Seeing that you don't have rear sliders, and I have spares... and that your gates are inside the box but pretty useless, maybe we can trade."
His response, "It's not mine. I'm just handling it for my friend AJ. We were wondering about those gates. Now at least we know they come with the Doka."
I'm paraphrasing. It that's about as close to the conversation. Jed the Spread should know that Syncronutz built it up. It appears to be a Syncro 16". The box is attached to the gate hinges. You would have to take the box off to use the gates. The box looks like its painted together with the body. In other words, no obvious seam separation. That's why I was asking Daryl if the gates might be available for sale. That humongous spare or something in the left is giving this thing a decided "Westy lean".
I'll let the new owner finish describing it himself. If he doesn't, I can later. _________________ BenT |

Its here! Just saw it on Redmond Ridge a couple days ago. How cool to follow the thread then be treated with a rare sighting. I still want to track the owner down and check it out up close. |

I saw it a few months ago. It's hard to miss. It makes my syncro seem puny.
I hope to see it this summer at MogFest or on the trail. _________________ 89' Dove Blue Syncro Hightop |

You wont see the driver giving it much revs, you just take your foot off the pedal and it gently crawls over stuff on tick over without bouncing around all over the place

My girlfriend snapped this pic of a DOKA on a flatbed going down the 405 fwy in Torrance, CA. She and I both would like to know what it is? Looks like a utility compartment of some sort, but I dunno...Thanks |
