Well for the first time in 8 mths Scooby is being towed to Oscars (he's a master auto wirer) to get the mess up front (some I made) straightened out. He's the fellow who rewired all the engine compartment for me more than a year ago. Nelson is very busy and he has seen it without the dash and doesn't want to touch it. Same reaction to old messy motor.

I told Oscar my Tercel insurance expires on May 7th so that's his timeline and that will get me to Fergus G & G. The hard part is not having diagrams to follow and I didn't do a very good job marking. He is VERY busy but will fit me in. Love that Spanish fellow!

Last week I reinstalled the transmission after a AA rebuild (popping out of first and second) and added a couple cutting board spacers. Noted that the Left rear was harder to turn, so last night I pulled the drums and saw what a rusty mess the hardware was. The parking brake lever was stuck to the shoe and wasn't releasing. Oiled and greased the mess and got it working better. Now I noticed it clicking back there when I making turns.

I took the opportunity given by the awful whether we've had here the last few days to remove the carpet and put a 2-colour bamboo flooring (now, the rest of the van looks a little sad, but well... on thing at a time) :

Nice, I like how you carried it forward. I have blonde laminate in main salon, I like the darker or the ''honey & teak sole" look. Had it in my last sailboat. I have some dark laminate now, perhaps sometime way in the future when I have nothing to do, I'll honey & teak Scooby. I also covered my fridge door as the blue laminate had fallen off.

Hi Daizee:

Can you tell me where Oscars is located? Since I am quite near to you he may be the answer to my electrical troubles with my Beetle.

Thanks! They are actually anti-rocker aggressive Inline skate (or whatever it's called now a days... man I just felt old) wheels. Senate Roadhouse Crayolas 47mm circa 1995, to be exact Smile

I was tossing a set of skates I still had laying around and gutted all the hardware and wheels. Made these and I still have the other 2 crayolas in orange and yellow too, and I made a set for 2 of my friends, and a shift-knob with the other wheels, Senate Lowriders. It brings me back.

So yeah anyway, Inline skate wheels work better because they are flush with the bearing and thinner. Also this up with the top on my custom mods list! The window action is sooo smooth now.

Smokey, how about some window crank mod details with pics? I realize it's probably a long bolt to hold it in place, with a washer between wheel and crank, but it's very creative!....looks like cool factor and function!
Thanks,
Miguel

Put in a new speedo cable from van cafe. Cut in and added a passenger side dome light, location matches driver side. Put a warm white 6 led bulb in it, swapped out the older cool white leds I was running with warm white to match. (superbrightleds.com). Like it.

I made up this armrest bolt cover. Found a couple of 20 year old Wolfsburg hat pins on ebay and had an idea. BillM was kind enough to hook me up with a couple of original buttons. So, I took the dimensions from one of those, turned copies on my South Bend lathe and capped them with the pins.
