Does anyone know of a screen only type pre filter? Reusable or cleanable would be great... |
Filters like this...

...typically have just a bronze screen that does not clog as solids fall to the bottom of that sediment bowl. Common on British cars of the 50s & 60s as the exclusive filter.
Of course that glass bowl would require some protection if mounted below the van.
Their are also inline filter with replaceable elements, possibly sold in the boating area of some stores. |

I would be worried about using any kind of prefilter sized to fit a B&S engine. The design fuel flow through one of these might be only 5-10% of what a Vanagon FI system sees. |

I don't know about the 2wd tank but the syncro tank has a reusable mesh filter wih plastic frame that screws in on the inside of the tank. Just cleaned mine and it had quite a bit of rubber hose pieces stuck to it. _________________ 1984 Vanagon Westfalia Syncro Hightop
