I tend to think you get what you pay for. That seems a little too easy. An LSD for 350$ would be freaking awesome though

All it appears to do is place pressure on the side-gears, limiting differentiation.

I did a little research (google is your friend) and apparently they kinda sorta work but they wear out the spider gears and pins very quickly if used on the street. There is some debate about whether they even work at all.

| should not affect the spider gears but may be hard on the dif case at the axle gears from the pressure.if the case was machined for some clutches it would probably be better, but I see nothing rong with nthe kit other than the price for 4 spring& 2 locater plates should be between $60.00 & $88.37 retail. or just grab some out of a gm or mopar product. |

Works on split case, swing axle, IRS and even New Beetle

| I would think they just found the size that fits in there,probably not realy made for a vw, but just replacement parts.but what is realy made for these things any way???nothing fits, so ..... |

I thought Limited Slip was spelled QUAIF (or similar spelling)...

I thought qualif was speled TBSD, or thorson gleason.
a limited slip is a totaly different thing.it's clear in the front & see through in the rear.  |

about a year an a half ago I had a NOS LSD for a 002 transmission it was very similar in design to that eBay listing , but complete so they did / do exist and work, from what I was told not as good as a clutch type or screw type LSD and did wear due to the heavy spring pressures

Using your gears as friction surfaces? No thanks. A proper friction-based LSD with use clutch plates. Torsen or Peloquin diffs are good alternatives.
But... didn't VW off a factory limited slip diff at one time?

| ive got a swing superdiff I was goint to add clutches & irs out put shafts to and use it as an irs, and the screw in sides can be used for preload& set the torque breakway.just havent goten to it yet. |
