I have seen plenty of sand rails but my dad had one that he said was built off of the floor pan, unlike the ones you see today. I was wondering if any one has done this or has a picture of one like this. I have been thinking about making one off the floor pan what are the pros and cons of this and not a kit like the Warrior? Thank you |

Here is one that originated in my home town, it has been in national publications. It retained the center tunnel and rear set, not really
any pan left, but you get the idea.

Thanks that helpful but I was looking for something that has the original wheel base and a roll cage. |

thanks that was very helpful but why do people rarely do this, it seems easier than making a full on sand rail. |

it is old school. with a sand rail, all the works (clutch and throttle cable, shift bushings that are in the tunnel) are easy to get to. you can get that more laid back seating position. you can make the car as long or short as you want. just a neater package. less work unless you have a tubing bender and welder to slap a VW beam and transaxle on a rail and you are almost done. |

Rolling over would be a HUGE concern. I grew up buggying in the early 70's and Ive seen a few similar to the above. |
