|
|
I'm hoping to find a good place to stealth camp, or otherwise, between Seattle and the border crossing at Blaine and would love some suggestions.
I'll be attending this event Friday night: www.truewolfmovie.com , here: http://www.landmarktheatres.com/market/seattle/varsitytheatre.htm , and then heading towards Point Roberts. I don't want to make the border crossing at night, so hoping for a good spot an hour or two north of Seattle. This is my maiden cruise with my new 2.5l Small Car subie engine!
Thanks for any help! _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

If you are just looking for a place to spend the night unmolested (the minimal sense of stealth camping), there's the Skagit Valley Casino 70 miles north of Seattle. Just east of I-5, exit 236 for Bow, WA. Casinos are known for letting RVs stay in the parking lot without hassle, on the assumption you are inside the establishment drinking and filling their coffers by gambling. _________________ 1989 16" Syncro Joker hightop "Akela" |

If you cross the border at night you won't have the border lineups that you would in the morning. Just a thought. _________________ 1987 Syncro

I've slept at the rest area that Kathy's talking about a couple of times. Coming back from events further away and just couldn't drive any more...
Top up and top down - no hassles either way.
North bound border lineup doesn't start until dinner time. South bound's a different story! _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

Point Bob! We went out of curiosity, never having been to a pene-enclave. I can't help you with camping info since we were on a rental car trip, but enjoy the visit.

Look for this one while you're there. We saw it on our trip.

Great info everyone, thanks! It's helpful to have several options stretched out along the way ~ not sure if I'll be super tired or amped and want to keep driving!
Point Bob! I like it! One of my wife's long-time friends lives on a cliff above the ocean ~ I've been working in the Mojave for 6 months so I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Thanks again everyone. _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

If this rain keeps up, we'll have you re-hydrated in no time!
You can see the eastern bluffs of Point Roberts from our beach - very pretty. _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

Wow, that sounds soooo good! It was 113F yesterday with winds about 25mph. Yowza.
We are going to Point Bob for a few days, then to Orcas, Vashon, then Hoh Rain Forest. Let the mushrooms and lichens grow! _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i

Be sure to visit the Pacific Ocean beaches when you are in ONP. Neah Bay at the tip is the best, Shi-Shi beach is a 2 hour walk away. Camp on the Res, visit the museum. La Push is less driving & walking (10 min walk, can extend for hours & even days). Camp at the Park site or in town for power & showers. _________________ '69 Squareback RIP

Great tips, thanks! I used to camp there years ago when I would escape from Leavenworth (Der Town), and I'm really excited to get back there. We plan on camping at the Park campground, and will check out the beach options you mentioned. _________________ 1990 Syncro 16" DoppleKabine 2.1 DJ 112i
