|
|
Hi all
Saw a pretty nice 62 rag for sale in Holland en deceided to buy it, but as it was a 3 hour drive, actually bought it without seeing it!
The nice gulf blue and rag top just screamed 'buy me'
Usually a dumb thing to do with a bug, but luckily this time I was pleased with my blind purchase and the work remains within my capebility.
Here's how I got her last week :
meanwhile I've put on some Ravus white walls :
I'm not convinced on the chrome ring of Ravus needed to keep the white walls up, I think I'm going to paint them white.
Furthermore I've got a chrome roof rack ready to be mounted, and some accesoiries.
TMI covers are ordered, the original derby grey cloth is hard to come by and not supported by TMI, so I'm going for slip ons and keep the og upholstery underneath. |

Don't do it. Those chrome trim rings look nice. They sandwich and accent the rim color. If you paint them white, they will make the wheel look too white, IMHO. _________________ Have nice 914, want nice Bug |

A ragtop wind deflector would really make your ragtop sweeter! |

well TMI slip ons (ordered) and then I need to put on the stainless roof rack, which I already have, and some options (cheese grater, drink tray, stainless tips, etc.) which arrived also.
I'll put up some new pics when I've put them on.
The main thing is I love the old style 'slammed on earlies' look, so I'm not sure things will stay as is. Then again with two kids a stocklooker isn't to bad either ander easer to use.
Not sure about this...

you mean a plastic cap in front of the rag top? I'm not a real fan of those, I prefer the old style look. |

well, I believe I paid a fair price for it, I bought it for the amount of €4800 (=$5800).
The car has zero rust, chassis is all clean and everything works as should.. |

nice car, might be looking for an original rear bumper. The front looks og, but the rear isn't. great find, maybe a parcel tray would be nice |

yes a parcel tray certainly is something that will follow.
I love accessoires on old bugs
Just not sure about making it a stocklooker of going for the resto-cal treatment... |

i wouldn't go resto-cal with that car, but as long as you aren't cutting it up, it can all be undone. A little lowered might be cool, don't slam that car, it's too darn nice like it is. |

I was a bit lucky in negociating the motorcycle license plate format, they're not easy to obtain by our technical inspectors

the rear
TMI slip-on's are okay. I need to close the velcro's tho so it's more snug
next to my other baby
I got some polished empi 5's (fiste gen) laying around for next year. So I'll be going for a mild lowering job. No slamming this time like I did with my 59. |

just a shot of how I'm rolling it now. it's got lowered spindels and no lowering up front, so there's a little rake.
The roof rack above the ragtop makes one hell of a whistling noise, I think I better get rid of it |
