i gotta bump the thread.
i have your bus's little brother.
his name is waldo. he's a 1970 with the westy interior. the previous owner put in a kitchen unit from a later year, but i took it out because it just took up way to much room, and i didnt really have a use for it.
the headspace is incredible, and i really love all the natural light. it has spoiled me really, my buddy has a '77 bay, and i feel like im in a cave whenever i'm in the back! _________________ 1970 type 2 dormobile

a lot of work still needs to be done. the headliner was pretty much in pieces when i bought him, and i've been waiting to find the material i want to replace it with to come in to my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. i'm planning on replacing it with a thin white dry erase board.
but for now, the back is the original covered in white duct tape and the front still has the silver insulation i installed. _________________ 1970 type 2 dormobile

The Dormobile poptop had no canvass in it and the floor plan was way better than the Westy....but not DOT I think because there were no seat belts in back and side to side bench seats that made a killer bed. I know because I bought one years age from a German couple who brought it here and were going home. It was a 72 with 1.6L spedo in klicks and halogen headlights. The tail lights were the same size but the lenses were different.. I located the friend of a friend to buy it back but they wont sell it. The vehicle has been all over europe, across the Atlantic several times, as far north as Alaske and as for south as central america and in almos every state in the union and years back I gave it away,,,,,,(dumbass) Larry Devillle |
