is the dual really needed, and despite the smaller size, does it really "outperform" the traditional Mesas?
anyone has any pics of how the dual pack setrab's mounted? |

Why not just make a custom set of wires with a Y splice in them. Then you could just run one distributor. |
I don't think electrickery works that way |

Jason,
Do you run the single or dual? What are your temps like? You have eliminated the stock oil cooler with your BB shroud as I recall.

Steve,
I'm running a small, single Setrab (Series 1, 25 row; 7 5/8" x 6 7/16"). Even without the fan hooked up, oil temps stay around 200 F. It replaced a 96-plate- Mesa that ran about 20-25F hotter (also, no fan). The Setrab is simply a way more efficient design, with much greater surface area for convective heat flux from the cooler to the ambient air. _________________

Very cool (ha) to hear. I'm thinking of trying a wide aspect ratio but small height/thin Setrab. I have a nice spot to tuck it under my wing where it will have high pressure to duct through.
Motorcycle and utility vehicle (Rhyno) fans from stock oil coolers are cheap on ebay if you need a fan. They go from 5 up to 8".
My squishy 2275 is heating up real quick since I switched to thicker oils. |

Dual setrab works excellent - I ran a 2563 with no internal oil cooler and temps stayed below 200 in orlando, fl during summer |

Crimson, you had a special T4 with Nickies in a hot rod / cruiser type car. With that fancy engine you could have gotten by with no cooler I bet |

yep - but driving from baton rouge to orlando did get the temp up a bit sinceh I was driving at a fast clip The thing I like about the setrab is that they are compact - I would say that if you are only running the setrab without an internal oil cooler then buy a spare fan when you order just in case one burns out (mine have been running for quite a few years with no problems but its good to have a spare fan just in case) |

Where is the best place to mount an oil cooler, and what's the reason very few, if any, mount an oil cooler at the front, directly in the airflow? Is it the length of the oil lines?
I have a Mesa (with fan) mounted in my replica speedster's driver's side rear wheel well.
