PostPosted: Thu Feb 26, 2009 12:55 pm    Post subject: Jbugs Headliner Pad Kit... Reply with quote

Just received my Headliner Pad Kit from Jbugs...

here is my review. ( I will add a picture when I get my camera back. )

Just wanted to post this info in case anyone is thinking about ordering this product.

The large roof pad is fine, but they cut out 1/2" foam for the posts, around rear window, around quarter panel windows, and above the doors.

I read in another thread that someone used the insulation pad for a water heater. I think I would have gone that route if I had known this is what I would receive.

anyway... I thought I would post this, incase anyone else was thinking about ordering this... thinking its going to be like the original material.

Think I will make some patterns before I install it. that way I can have something to go by when I do my own in the future.

I used that kit when I redid my interior. It worked well. No complaints

I too used that kit but instead of the carpet pad on the roof I put 2 layers of Damplifyer for the noise and heat. It's awesome.

I was going to Peel & Seal the roof area then use the pad.

I guess the foam will do, I just wish they would put that in the description when they are selling it... just seems that it would cost less than $45... but what do I know, I am a noob to all this!

Robert, here's a picture of my headliner after it was installed:

The foam will work just fine. I still have that piece of headliner/carpet pad in my garage. After I put in the damplifyer, it was no longer necessary.

man, I hope mine turns out as great as yours looks.

I got the Jbugs interior and exterior dvds too... I did like that... though Jose makes it look easier than I am sure it is... Laughing

Question for johneliot:
What year is your Beetle? Is the headliner shown in the photo from Jbugs? If so is the white color and the cut of the headliner like the orignal? In what way is it different?

Thanks
Randy

I used some carpet pad that I got from home depot. That worked well but the guy in the jbug video definitely made it look a little easier than it was but mine came out pretty well. I did not think that it did until I got everything back in the car. It is definitely better than what was in there before Very Happy

The original style pad and headliner are available from www.wolfsburgwest.com There's a HUGE difference between a $50 headliner and a $150 headliner.

Randy, I have a 69. I got the headliner from Jbugs. It's a one piece headliner and yes, it's white like original. I don't believe originally it was just one piece. If I remember when I ripped the old shredded one out, the pillars, and under the rear window were separate pieces. It's been in my car for 2 years now and looks as good as the day it was put in.

quickroof baisically. damplifier is just a name brand sound deadner as opposed to the home depot quick roof stuff. Look up second skin audio.
