Here is a pic of my 63 double cab! I traded my 66 vw bug for it. It is pretty straight and has some rust in the normal places but not bad. It came with five gates (two seamed gates from a 59-60) all need rustoration.
Here is what I traded for the bus

|
|
Hello, my name is Alex. Im from El Salvador and this is the story of my new project:
Some day a man from the east side of the country a man found a 1966 DC sitting in a farm, covered of dust and being nest of ducks. He buy it and towed to his workshop. From that day, this pearl white DC continued his long sleep and a friend of mine buy it, but he hasnīt enough time to rebuild it, so he sold it to me.
Today I towed it to San Salvador. The DC is in bad shape, rust and dust everywere. The engine is covered in mud, Steering wheel bracket missing, electrical system destroyed, one front wheel locked, and the dash board hacked.
Sounds like I have a lot of work and fun there. Tomorrow I will clean the interior, drop the engine and inspect the damages in the steering and break system.
The plan is rebuild everything the DC needs to pass the legal inspection, register the car, and after that, a better engine, replace of floors, panels, replace the missing dog leg, and get rid of the structural damages. I dontīt know if I will slam it or I will keep it in stock height.
Today was a great day.

I have been waiting for this day a long time. Literally pulled this out of a barn it was loaded with feed, dead mice (and the smell) a bird nest with eggs and mud hornets nest in every crack and crevice. I started out restoring my 66 Ghia (my first car) and found that my family of 4 won't fit so easy. So the search was on for this lil gem. Its all here except for the missing rear window someone cut out. Still looking for a rear window clip.

So here are a couple of shots of the 59 DC I picked up back in May. I haven't done much to it due to lack of time.
Ok some questions:
1. Does anyone make JUST rear floor corners?
2. Is the floor pattern the same as the bed pattern? If I have to buy a large piece to repair my rear floor, I hope I can use a small piece to fix a hole a PO cut for a tank neck. _________________ Anthony

Hell I'd take the slash off the back of this DC. Not perfect, but it's a bumper and I need one. LOL _________________ Anthony
