Went on a small trip this week.
First I drove up to a cabin and met up with my parents and sister.
Stayed there for two days. No bedrooms available in the cabin,
so I slept in the car.
Managed to go on a few hikes in the area.
The plan was to drive further north and spend about 5 days in the mountains.
But unfortunately I caught a nasty cold, so decided to call it quits and head back home.
Did take the long way home though. The shortest route would have been about 2 hours,
while I took several detours (and a nap), and spent most of the day getting back home...
Even met some locals _________________ 1967 Bug (euro) |

Not sure if this is "wilderness"
Took a trip to the beach with a few other syncros - quite a challenge to keep up with a slammed 2WD
This one actually looks easier than it was. The first few inches of sand were kind of wet and muddy. Funny thing is that it looked super smooth and hard before driving in - 2nd gear and 5k revs was the key to get through. A friend of mine with a stock 1.6 N/A diesel just got slower and slower till it stalled.

This past weekend next to Jack Creek, near Gould, CO.
Have I told you lately how much I hate the p.o.s. wipers on Vanagons. _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin |

Two shots, first ButterNut in the wilderness on Vashon Island, WA:
And next, NEAR the wilderness of Yellowstone National Park. Can't take the van, but could take the horses!

My favorite thing about this last 4th of July trip was overhearing people say "Woah and they're from AZ, it must be a healthy van!" It better be by now!

A little drive I took outside of Missoula this weekend. I've got some shots on film that will come later.

12 August 2012, 6:30 am. Cunard Lake State Forest Campground, Northern Wisconsin. If you turn up the volume on the photo you can hear the loons "looning" in the background.
