Can I run a filter and cooler with this pump along with my stock doghouse cooler....or ditch the doghouse cooler altogether ?

Don't "ditch" the stock cooler.

You can use that pump to add a filter and cooler if you want. Not the best option, but it will work.

Best is full flow where the oil exits the pump, goes to the filter/cooler and returns to the case via a port that is machined into the case.

Glenn,
Thanks again for the response and taking the time to post the photo...my case has been tapped for that so that will be my choice also...any thoughts on running an external cooler too, or just the doghouse with the filter ?
Thinkin' also about moding my DH shroud so I can use a T4 cooler...

My previous engine had a Type 4 cooler and it didn't cool any better.

Leave the cooler off, you can always add it later.

Do the basics, all factory tin, stock offset cooler, correct ignition timing, properly adjusted carbs and all engine compartment seals.

My 2180 runs just fine without a secondary cooler.

Makes sense to me...1 last thing...did you have to plug the oil pump to make it a "full flow" ?

Yes... the pump needs to be plugged so it forces the oil out the cover's port.

Not to thread jack, but I have a question, and this thread seems to fit it well (rather than starting a new thread). What would happen if you plugged the outlet on the pump, but didn't plug the inlet in the case? I'm talking about the port on the inside of the case at about 10-11 o'clock where the oil pump inserts. Thank you! -- thread jack over--
