Engine tin layout?

I've just discovered that it appears I am missing the front engine tin on my 66 type 1. Is there a diagram or picture somewhere of a complete engine tin layout with all of the components? If I'm missing one part I want to make sure I'm not missing others. Were the tins significantly different from year to year? I've searched here but have had no luck finding this info.

Bus engine parts for the majority are same as used on the type 1s.

Yes, there are differences over the years.

For earlier or later engine tin you can type in the search of the gallery for "Engine Tin Diagram".

Here is the later for DH Thing engine that did not have heater boxes, instead ran J-tubes. So parts 8 are for J-tubed engines.

Thanks Eric, Barb & Hugo. Looks like I am indeed missing the front tin and the two parts of the oil cooler tin, looks like everything else is there. On my way to the classifieds!

Since you're missing those parts make sure you don't forget the Hoover bit!

and good for you understanding the importance of having ALL the tins in place. I love the people who are missing half the tins, and then post here asking why their motor is running hot!

Not only is the tin different from year to year in some cases, but say in 1966 for example you have two different engines for a type one ( 1200 & 1300) and they require different tin as well.

I'm pretty sure you will have to remove the engine to get that front tin installed...from reading your post it sounds like it still in the car.

And yes the piece covering it on the passenger side should be the fan shroud.

You should only see the cooler if you like fried ACVW engine.

Thanks for those pictures, that really helps clarify it for me. It looks like all I need is the front tin and the oil cooler tins and seals. Already found the cooler tins and seals (and hoover clip in case I do need that one) here in the classifieds. Once I find an appropriate front tin I will be able to take out the engine and get a better look. Thanks to all for their advice and help. As I stated before the car doesn't run hot but I'll feel a lot better knowing everything is there where it belongs. I'll try to post some photos of the before and after.

Unless you are running gauges, you will not know if it is running hot!!

After all it is air cooled. No water to steam forth!

I used some foil backed tar "tape" instead of the foam, as I'm not concerned as much with originality. There are NO leaks from my dog house....and it was super easy.
