Hey guys. My speedometer is a little messed up; the people I bought my bus from broke the needle and ruined the face... Has anybody found a digital face to fit the 3 3/4" opening in the instrument panel? Also, I want a cool looking accelerator pedal and brake and clutch pedal.. anybody found any interesting pedal pads to fit my '74 bus? Smile

Ah - another new bus owner who has never lived in a mechanically analog word.

Maybe you can adapt these

I think it would be easier to hook up a stock replacement than to wire in a digital speedo.

X10 don't try and reinvet the wheel. And most of all try to stay stock as possible, as it will retain its value that way. If you do start ripping stuff out and putting after market garbage in please save all the removed parts for any future owner to replace. All those parts you want to remove are no longer made and are worth keeping.

Or find someone in Brazil willing to sell and ship the current instrument pod, if you want something different:

I couldn't find an original speedo, so I was trying to fit a digital. Then o found Corey in Virginia who replaces them. I do want to keep everything as stock as possible, yes. But I am not going for value, as this is going to be my daily driver for a LONG. LONG. time Smile Corey is going to make it look like new for about a buck fifty.. same price as digital that doesn't fit Very Happy still nobody with a custom pedal cover? Smile

If you have cash coming out the wazoo these are really cool http://www.speedhut.com/gauge_products-gauge_type-speedometer_GPS.htm

So......? was it really the PO that messed it up or did you start digging in for a little customizing and discover it wasn't as easy as you expected?

This is actually pretty awesome. Anyone here use one in their bus? I see this also as a great use for those with undersized front tires to actually get accurate speed/mileage.

The common rule here is pics or it didn't happen, but this is one time when I think it's best you refrain from posting any pics of a guy in a speedo Laughing

I actually really like those... The price is the only thing keeping one of those out of my empty clock hole right now... (no way I'd rip out my stock unit, even if it says I'm going 60 when going 52, and freezes when it shows anything over 65. At that point it takes a whack of the unit with the right hand through the empty hole Very Happy )

And oh how I wish gauge companies would offer templates for making our own faces... One member here did something like that with his tach, and that might look sweet on this setup as well!
