Hi i've got a 77 Westy never had any electrical problems. Now when i have my turn signal (drivers side only)on and i push my brake pedal it cuts the blinker off but leaves the turnsignals front and back on?It works perfectly on the passenger side .All the lights work turn signals tail and brake on both sides until you push the brake pedal.Nothing seems to be touching or shorting out any help would be great ! _________________ driving down the road of life at 60 mph |

Betcha it quits when you turn on the parking lights too The LR light fixture has a bad ground, most likely where the brown wire plugs onto the body tab just inside the decklid. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Havent checked it yet but on the way home with the lights on it still stopped the blinker if you pressed the brake pedal hard. _________________ driving down the road of life at 60 mph |

Cleaned the grounds did not make any difference.I may change the light housing to see if that helps.I was wondering if it could be one of the brake switches causing it.It 's weird you press the brake pedal hard to make the lights come on and the front left and rear turn signals come on solid at the same time.I also checked the grounds at the front of the bus and they were fine too?Help!!!!!!! I know i'm not the only person this ever happened to:( _________________ driving down the road of life at 60 mph |

If all the signals acted the same I might blame the flasher relay, if both brake lights didn't work at all I might blame the switch, but because one works normally and one acts up the only causes can be grounds or bad bulbs, either where they attach to the bus or where the bulb touches the inside of the socket. The bulb is trying to ground and since the regular path through the shell to the socket isn't working the next path is through the resistance of the rest of the bulbs in the parking light circuit, turning on the lights removes that path so it quits entirely (12V both terminals), if you use the signal in the dark you'll notice the parking lights glowing faintly in time with the signals.
Remove the bulb and clean the socket with some emery cloth on a popsicle stick, after it's all shiny a smear of Vaseline on the bulb will keep it shiny for later. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

Fixed it with some friends help! After checking everything we looked into the trailer wiring and plug.It was installed correctly but had an electronic module in it that must have gone bad. We found power going where it shouldn't be with a tester cut the wire and it fixed the problem. _________________ driving down the road of life at 60 mph |
