Awesome! You found a Miller-Havens style engine scoop. I recently located one for my own vintage Baja.

I'll definitely look into a set of those once I get my new arms/tires in the rear.

I bought my set back in 2000. I'm not sure if the same person manufactured mine. They were shipped from Garden Grove. I had actually seen a set on a Baja in the parking lot of the VW classic around 1993 and spotted an ad in the December 1999 issue of Hot VWs.

The fit was great, but the fiberglass was a little too thin. I had to add a few more layers to keep them from flapping in the wind as I drove down the road.

It looks like the rear-most part of my fenders is a little more horizontal than the ones being sold now. The new ones angle upward on the outside.

In 1952, my dad was working for Johnny Von Neuman, who was instrumental in bringing VWs and Porsches into the US. His daily driver was a 52 Bug with an Okrasa engine. (1,100cc "25hpp" with dual port heads, roller crank, HP cam and dual carbs). He sold it to buy an English sports car called a Singer. kinda like the better known MG. I wish he'd kept the Bug.
He never told me that it had a hatch in the rear deck for access to the trans, etc. ... Even after I cut a similar hatch in the rear deck of his 58 Baja as I converted it to a Baja.
