I was wondering if anyone has chromed the inner spokes of a standard 3spoke steering wheel?
Thx, G

I've stripped the pain off the spokes. But not sure how the wheel would hold up to a dip in the plating tank...

trick is to send it off to Kochs or someplace such as that...they'll knock the existing grips off then have it chromed and recast it for you

The best thing would be to talk to your electroplating company. It may well be possible-there may be risks or issues-THEY are the experts.

I know that when I plate semaphore pistons in copper, nickel and chrome that when I do SWF "F" series pistons, and forget to strip off the plastic ring around the stopper, the plastic ring comes through the pricess in good shape and in tact.

Thats polished aluminum, and an Isetta wheel, not VW! Laughing
With chroming the spokes, I would think the castings would have to be broken off, plated, then recast. Thats how I've seen Banjo wheels done before.

I asked Koch's about doing it for my barndoor wheel and they said that they couldn't. I want to have my 54 barndoor wheel redone w/ chrome spokes cuz that's how I roll. Any suggestions?

Do they have a mold to recast barndoor wheels? If yes, remove the bakelite your self and have it plated locally before sending it to Koch.

They are not the same. Later 3 spoke wheels from Standard models have a different spline than earlier wheels.
