I am wondering if there are any good web sites of do-it-yourself interiors of bays. I would really appreciate it. Feel free to post pics of your interior here also.

BTW what is that site where you can paint your own vw in a flash program.

Jasan
Thats a really cool site. I'm slowly trying to get the old lady to accept the fact that the bus needs new paint. Thanks.

Big Al
I'll post the final pics from the custom cabinet work I just finished. Stay tuned.

Wow! Sorry, I think I drooled on your bus. My Westy is still stock simply by virtue of being stored for ten years - and by stored I mean neglected in a musty shed, yuck-- and I want her to look that good when I'm done. Anybody else got photos of stock Westies for reference? Most of the pieces of mine are strewn about the passenger compartment with bits of mouse nest all over them, I want to make sure I'm putting things back in the right places.

Can anyone refer me to or whip out a list of available options in these bays? Are they all the same (I am imagining not)? Some selling descriptions mention 4 beds, did I read that right? Do some come with options that are at the sacrifice of other options? (2 Z beds, but less cabinets, anything like that?)
Do I make any sense? Shocked

Thank you in advance...Sam

Here are a couple of mine. All stock except for the Vanagon captains chairs and the pillows. If you need to replace any of the "wood" laminate on your cabinets, I found last year that Formica brand #117 Colonial Cherry is almost an exact match to the original. http://www.formica.com/colorchipdetails.jsp?chip_id=69

Thanks Dave. I really wish one of the vendors would start making the later Westy rubber that covers the rear of the passenger seat pedestal. I made due with the passenger bus rubber. Looks OK but that bare spot bugs me.

Rubber for the floors? If so, some rubber gasket material works like a charm for that type stuff. I like using it on top of work benches even! Very Happy

No, not for the floors. If you compare Daves passenger seat pedestal and mine you will see his is completely covered. Where as mine has that bare strip of metal just below the top. No one makes the Westy specific pedastal rubber for the swivel passenger seat.

Well, here's mine. I'm thinking about redoing the interior, but it wasn't a bad first try.

am i ever jealous of the brown plaid interior. it is so bright and new. wish mine looked as good. mine is not bad for being 26 years old this year.

major props to the green plaid inerior. it's all about the deitails. keep us posted about the progress.

still looking for a child cot for a 79 and the rear table witht the leaf.

will try to post some pics when i get a camera.

did i read somewhere that the brown plaid was a rarity in the later buses with the green being the most common?

Thanks. That material was from a parts bus with perfect upper bunk plaid. I recovered the rear bench, stool, and rear sleeping pad last summer. You can remove yours and machine wash it on a gentle cycle if your machine has it. It actually comes out pretty clean but the backing may deteriorate a bit. This is in the classifieds http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=138094

FYI: Blue green is the rarest. Brown is the second hardest to find. Then the orange (2 different shades). The green is the most common.
