I have a Enos 500/ El lobo / Lido buggy. Any easy way to tell which of the three it is. Which was the original and which two were copies?

Oh boy where do I start.... The Lido was the first version. This style body , next to the Manx was the most copied and very little info to be had on direct splash identities, the El Lobo is the most popular name everyone goes by although the Lobo didn't show up till the early to mid 70's. El lobo has become generic (like Manx unfortunately) There are specific variations however and easily identified. For example the Lithia Mark 3 has a pointed nose , and the Fiberjet Enos 500 has a triangular face to its design. When I am trying to I'd these the only thing I can guess a real Lido by is that they had an optional side panel that had a little flip up as a mud guard for the front tire , unfortunately this could have been copied as well , however I don't see these panels very often. Joe Poty had a copy sold primarily through his east coast operation. Poty bodies had a serial tag above the steering shaft hole on the firewall. If you have one of these it is called the Caballero

In addition to the pointed nose, the Lithia has fender flares that the others do not have.

That body is in really nice shape. You have the makings of a cool buggy.

Its not bad, buttoned it up right before last winter. Drove it all summer, just put the 1776 Webber engine out of my 61 into it. Will put the big wheels with new tires back on it in the spring for next year. Will eventually redo it purple and detail it up, gets lots of attention the way it is now..

That is an Enos 500 made by FIberjet . Notice the triangular details in the nose and tail. Bingo!
