I decided instead of going the traditional route of cutting into the frame horns and modifying those I cut them right off and replaced them with Berrian Tubular frame horns. It was much easier than cutting and fitting!
Here are the pics...

Yup, sure was.
Hey JJozwiak, how do you like the sound of that long spark arrestor/muffler?
Nice job on the frame horn swap! _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

Actually I like it it is not as loud as your typical arrestor! The wifey has ear issues and didnt like how loud the old one was but she likes this one! It still gives a good sound too! _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. Lay back, take a sip of tea, mow a little grass. Then if you get tired, take a nap.

Awesome! I have been looking at getting the same tip. Got any videos of her running?
One question...how did you get everything lined up so nicely? Did you use some sort of a jig for the trailing arm pivots, or do you just have mad skills? It looks like you did a really nice job putting all that together. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

I think I have a video on my phone with it running not sure if the audio is all that great I will have to see if i can get it transferred tomorrow and put it up on here!
And no I don't have mad skills wish I did just an average garage guy. I had a lot of help from a friend that does have mad skills. We used a irs conversion jig for the pockets and made a jig that connects to the front trans mount to line up the new frame horns. _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. I finally got the video uploaded!
In the video the engine isn't quite timed right you will hear the engine popping while idling this is before I got the carbs synced but you can hear what the exhaust sounds like anyway!

You will probably notice I edited this post a lot. This is my first time posting a video I had to open a youtube account to do it. Haha Anything for TheSamba! _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. Lay back, take a sip of tea, mow a little grass. Then if you get tired, take a nap.

I know this topic was started as a IRS conversion topic but, this topic is the closest thing to a build thread I have, So I have some more pictures for you guys.
Did some work and installed the single tube bumper I bought at the Lansing buggy builders show from Berrien. Here's some pics!
End Result
In this last pic you can see that I am in the process of installing the triple bend tree bars as well that I got from Berrien. I got those done today too but I was running out of time for the day and in a haste I forgot to snap a couple photos. So next time I'm back working again I'll snap a pic of the finished product for those! _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. Lay back, take a sip of tea, mow a little grass. Hey guys More pics But I do have a question today. I have pretty much everything ready for My street legal inspection. I am lacking one thing, and that is washer fluid squirter. Now I have a line on a vanagon bottle with electric pump so I'm not worried about that but what I am having trouble finding is an actual squirter that is possibly aimable.I want to be able to glue it to the windshield frame tubing, possibly with some steel epoxy or 2 part epoxy so it can be sanded and painted. Gonna make it look like it is molded in to the tube. Does anybody have an Idea to where I can buy one online.
Anyways I pulled the buggy out of the garage for some sunlight pics after bolting the engine back on.

For the squirter, I am not sure you have to be as elaborate as you think. When I had my SOS inspection in 2005, I had a hand crank wiper like yourself and I had a water bottle that I filled with a little bit of washer fluid. When asked, I just held up the bottle and with a chuckle from the inspector, the box got checked and we moved on with the rest of the inspection.
Otherwise, something like this will get the job done:

No you don't have to be that elaborate but I just would like to have the whole setup just for the option in case I wanted to use it! I appreciate the response! _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. Lay back, take a sip of tea, mow a little grass. Then if you get tired, take a nap.

How is that angled shroud, type 3 lower tin, and remote cooler setup working out for you?

I wish I could say for sure. In my previous setup the cooling fan ran all the time when ignition was on. I never had an overheat issue. Then buggy could sit running for 40 minutes without moving and stay cool. I recently just installed a fan switch and will be wiring that up that way cooling takes care of itself and the engine will run at its optimum temp. I don't think it will have any issues because it did such a good job before! _________________ America, everybody is in too big a rush. Lay back, take a sip of tea, mow a little grass.
