Installation tip: Examine this bushing carefully. You will notice that one side of the bushing has a ** wider opening than the other side. This bushing is very stiff, and you wonder how in the world you could possibly pass it through a smaller hole to install it? Well, after trial and error, I discovered that if you soak the bushing in oil or grease, it becomes softer and more workable. Fold it (almost) in half, and work it through the guide bar hole, using a flathead screwdriver to push the last edge through. It will seat around the guide bar nicely. Wipe off the oil & grease as much as you can, and when it "dries out", it will become stiff and "teflon-like" again.

**IMPORTANT: Be sure you have the wider opening facing the right way! The WIDER OPENING to the bushing MUST be facing toward the inside of the cars cab or your ball-head bolt will not seat inside the bushing!

You can also place the bushing in a cup of water,
nuke it in the microwave until the water is almost
at the boiling point = same result.
Just don't use your fingers to fish the bushing out! Wink

You can get the bushing soft enough to install with just your fingers.
It will soon return to its original stiffness.

Oh ... never thought of that! I searched everywhere for an installation tip last week & couldn't find any help. That is probably better than the grease method, but either way ... once you get it installed it is good for the next 20 years! Yeah!!
