|
|
i bought a new mexican longblock and there is no distributor drive gear installed,
why don't they install the drive gear when the build the engine?
can I get one from another engine without the puller?
How does the puller work?
How do I put the drive gear in the case without screwing anything up?
thank you thank you
I thought I was home free with this engine but apparently not. |

You can use an old distributer drive.
A puller is a good idea.
There is also a small washer (spacer) under the drive gear.
Most books I have seen give detailed distributer install help with pictures. If you don't have a book you can go to a library or take notes at barnes and Noble. _________________ 64 custom Ghia, 66 Bug, Sandrail, Barrien tub |

I have how to rebuild your engine but that book tells you to do it with the case halfs apart. |

if your using a stock distributor i believe you have to have the large half toward the cylinders, the slit parallel, with the crack in the crankcase while at TDC. 009 it doesnt really matter. dont forget the shim(s) and carefull of the brass worm gear. |

Get a early clamp like #2.

I install all my dist drive pinions so that the slot is between the dist clamp stud and the fuel pump stud. That will eliminate this problem. |
