Yes, sorry for the hijack. So, to resume, not "weird", rather nice looking:

That was Stout and Ford "aquired" the rest of the company(Ford was a later partner) after a mysterious fire at the factory. |

Just to set the record straight, Ford was one of twenty original investors in the Stout Metal Airplane Company in 1922. The company built single engine aircraft. In 1925 Ford bought out the other investors and made the Stout Metal Aircraft Company a division of the Ford Motor Company. The "mysterious fire" occurred in 1926 following poor performance of the first 3AT open cockpit trimotor prototype. The "mysterious" part was that all of the design drawings were ordered removed from the Stout Division facility the day before the fire. The fire prompted the creation of a new 4AT design which was the first successful Ford Trimotor. |

Almost a week and nobody's tried. Last chance before I spill the beans. Interesting for the limited production and unusual engine detail. But otherwise, a failure as a going concern despite the nice looks. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

I'm lost on this one too. The wheels look familiar and it just seems like they should be a dead giveaway. Reminds me somewhat of a Berkely but looks way too big. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

I'm guessing a Porsche 1500 Spyder variant, built for a record attempt at Reims. Perhaps only 1100cc? _________________ 2000 M Roadster

1964 Arista JD. Fiberglass body on a Panhard chassis with an air cooled, 60 hp, two cylinder engine. Even though the light weight of the car could get it up to 100 mph, only 6 were made. I'm not surprised. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society
