|
|
Well, it appears that the Mayans were wrong (at least so far) about the world ending today. So, as I sit here and think "WHAT NOW?" I can up with the idea of putting together a list of buggy related goals that I would like to accomplish in 2013.
First, I definitely need to finish my buggy. I've made some good progress, but I have a lot more to do.
As part of that build, I really want to make a better effort to post my build pics here on the forums. I LOVE coming on here and looking through everyone's build pics, and I know a lot of other people feel the same way. I want to share.
Another BIG goal I have for 2013 is to have my buggy finished AND road worthy so that I can drive with Bruce Meyers (and whoever else wants to join the adventure) from San Diego to The Outer Banks of NC for their annual event. I really hope we can make that happen.
I would love to hear from other people about all the things they want to do WITH or TO their buggy, or accomplish in the buggy world in 2013... _________________ www.BASEBALLCARDART.com |

My 2013 goal is to have my buggy 100% street legal for MOTB in Oct. I hope to see your buggy there also!
Stretch goal is to have it ready for Carlisle in May. Either way I plan on driving it in 2013! Even if it's snowing out...
Where's your pics??
Here's where I am. Still collecting cash for electric, front seats, and a motor. I should be coming into a little extra cash in a few weeks and should be able to purchase everything but the motor.
Happy New Mayan year!

A few easy goals for 2013, change the aftermarket light and wiper switches for OEM ones and get the wiper blades parking, fix the fuel guage and work out how to fix the Wink mirror neatly and securely. |

Great start to any project, should enable progress too.
I'm actually trying to avoid finding a new project, must maintain focus on the one at hand. Life is handing me too many must do's that push off the buggy already. A deserter or bounty hunter could really derail me.
As for the committment post in writing, I want to drive my buggy to my club picnic in August. Should be do-able, famous last words.... _________________ Gary

I will be changing the oil, adjusting the valves then a good wash and wax. I will be good for another season.
I may decide to install the brake setup I have from a Porsche 356B. Not sure yet. _________________ Jerry...

I'll be redoing the electrical in the buggy, salt intrusion killed just about everything. Install a new Avis adjuster in the front beam and lift the car up a bit for a better ride. A new cam and lifters for the motor are ordered and bump the compression, still looking for that 100HP per litre engine A Synch-link throttle cable system is being budgetted for.
Still undecided but maybe a new set of wheels. Go to some lapping days and tear up some tires. Finish my 57
Maybe go pick up my new project Bounty Hunter......

Redo the under dash wiring (it was thrown together in a hurry) and add a couple more swtiches. Hammer out the kinks in the front suspension, it's a little too soft and the fenders dive into the wheels on heavy braking (2" drop spindles with 28.5" tires). Upgrade the front blinkers to modern sockets (also related to close tire clearance). Install a fuel pressure regulator and get rid of the kinks with the carbs. Touch up some paint problems under the dash. Install the parking brake hardware and rebleed the brakes.
I found the original owner of the buggy, and he happens to be close by. I had to get the original title from him (it didn't follow the body when sold), and it would be really great to bring it full circle and show him how it wound out. He never actually saw the thing finished; it's apparently had a long, long build life, starting circa 1989.
Also, put some miles down |

Win a championship, win a wheel barrel full of money, or just win a trophy.
Win with my race buggy, win with mystreet buggy, just win, win, win.

Get business projects in place to retire by end of 2014.
Finish the buggy.
Make the next MOTB event.
Spend less time on the Internet...

Just want to finish my S1 Deserter and get it through the Pennsylvania enhanced inspection and registration process.
Hey Brad; Are you going to do a thread on your electrical re-do? _________________ BIGMIKEY

If there is any interest I might do a thread. It's just hours of boring repetative, tedious work.
Good Luck with your inspections, I take it they are fairly strict in PA?

I have new seat sliders to install. And I would like to build a new roll bar, possibly with mounts for 3 point seat belts. And some kind of top for rainy days.
But mostly, I plan to keep driving mine as much as possible. _________________ Brian

I picked up a Tow'd in California. My plan for 2013 is to get it back to the East Coast, fix it up and have it ready for MOTB 2013. It needs a lot of TLC but giving the history of my blue Manx, I think it will be ready early enough to go on the beach before that.
