Found this ages ago on an Irish forum and lost it again and just found it so here you go
Here is a copy of the VW cavity conservation plan, showing all the access points the VW covers with their conservation. There are a few more areas that become self evident once you rip the inside covers out of your van. Hope its of use

Whats your opinion of Fluid-Film? I like the idea of it being a non-toxic lanolin oil wax mixture, but want a great performing product also.
I'm very leery of driving my new van around our salted roads until I can get some protection on it.
I've been using an inner panel spray from Wesco, but that stuff is very noxious. Nasty stuff to be spraying indoors.
I'm looking into buying a whole setup like you have for treating all my cars. _________________ Currently:

Fluid Film has been working really well.
What I have done is spray each seam from the exterior and watch it wick.
Man this stuff has some serious action.
Watch for the bubbles and that is where it is penetrating.
I have also sprayed it from the beltline down on both sides of the van and complete nose and tail before I go out in really bad weather and when salt is being used.
This is what NY State DOT is doing with its trucks.
I purchased the FF applicator, which is pretty mush a Shutz gun that you can dial in air flow and product flow.
I atomize the FF the most possible when covering large areas.
After the storms I power wash it and all the salt away.
Very pleased with this as a preventative measure when driving in nasty conditions.
I am using much more waxy and permanent products in the cavities, doors, chassis and on the underbody.
I do not want them to wash off. |

I have been using fluid film for years, IMO its an excellent product, but its not suited for areas like in the wheel wells because it will wash off eventually. I bubbles right up when you spray it on so it works deep into seems, nooks, and crannies and those hard to get to spots, and stays where you put it. Non toxic, food grade, and doesn't smell bad at all.
I too want to get a wurth beige wax system, there's still lots of wax under my rig, but its getting thin in wheel wells. Having a hardtime locating a dealer in Canada _________________ Steve

Check out the Noxudol link above.
They have some really good pine tar based products and most of the underbody products are water soluble until cured....easy clean up and less hazards when spraying.
I have used all of their products, rust and corrosion inhibitors, sound deadener, thermal barrier....all excellent quality and finish. |

does it wash off or slowly over time?
thanks! |

We're in the midst of heavily salted roads and temp variations from -37C last week, to +1 today, and -25c forecast tomorrow night.
Anything effective is fairly viscous (to creep where it should) and therefore washes off at some point. Krown has some traction here and has been tested/adopted by the CAD military for their vehicles here...so other using my own cavity gun during garage work, I take the vehicles in for treatment to avoid the mess. So JT, once a year is what they suggest..and being that the van is garaged over winter..every 2 years seems fine based on low use.
Dilon, one thing I'm missing is the wax like product (Wurth) in the pic. Is this a good match for what I'm finding right next the to metal underbody on the van? That stuff seems to cure to a density of almost rocker guard. What did vw apply to protect the exposed underbody metal? _________________ Cheers,

Wurth Body Wax is the closest product available today to match certain areas sprayed on the Vanagon at the factory.
When applied, during the heat of the summer, it wicks incredibly well and cures in about three days.
I leave the cans in direct sunlight for about an hour while I am masking off the area to be sprayed, give the can a vigorous shake, attach the applicator and go. |

I used the Eastwood anti-rust product and a compressor-powered spray applicator similar to the unit shown above. I was very surprised to see after removing interior panels and flooring from my entire Westy Weekender interior (minus the cabinet) and spraying all the seams I could find, that the wax wicked from the INSIDE OUT to the exterior seams, even those that looked superficially OK (painted, no bubbles but hairline cracks in paint).
Van smelled like solvent for weeks afterwards, but the peace of mind persists _________________ '85 Westy Wolfsburg camper/2002 2.5 Subaru since 2003.

Make sure all bodywork is done before spraying or you will see these products work themselves right through from one side to the other.
Waxing and undercoating is the final step and most of these products are no easily removed and will cause all sorts of paint adhesion problems if you try to spray over them. |

Again, some of the Noxudol products are solvent-less and smell like pine trees. |

I like the sound of the pine tar based films. it never comes off the damn hood! should work great in other highly abraised areas as well. don't we have fossil specimens encapsulated in pine tar? Hmmm- |

No one has mentioned the tk waxoyl type product. I have used it to coat seams on the interior, and under coated the wheel well areas extensively, it has worked very well and stayed put for a long time. |
