Trying to date code a set of hella fluted headlight lenses.
This is how the lenses are stamped:
10801 HELLA L. 441. 561
Any insights appreciated. |

Hella lenses are not date-coded.
Is the "10801" and "HELLA" cast into the lip or the face of the lens?
If these are cast into the lip at the top, are there any numbers cast into the lip at the bottom?
Where is the "L 441.561" located?
Pictures will help immensely. _________________ Thanks,

All of these numbers appear to be stamped on the top of the inside lip.
There is also a small triangle and the number 36 stamped on the bottom inside lip.
These lenses have the vw logo cast on top of the outside and Hella cast on the bottom. There are also the letters A and NL inside a circle cast on each side of the hella logo. |

These lenses most likely date from 1955-58, as the "A" and "NL" markings started about 1955 and the part number moved from the lip to the face of the lens around 1958-59. _________________ Thanks,
