|
|
OK Guys here is how you do it.
Take a 1 1/2 socket ( OLD )
Take a old 36mm gland nut
Cut all the streads off the old gland nut and weld it to the socket.
When you are putting the Mister on the crank, turn it around so the short side is to the flywheel, insert the 36mm gland nut with the socket on it into the mister and torque it down.
SIMPLE , CHEAP , EASY
If you are in the Dallas area and you need your 1 1/2 Gland nut installed give me a call ( It's Free )
BTW NO smart a-- remarks about my welding ( I had a bad day )

or instead of making that a 1 thing only socket how about pressing a 3" ,1/2"extension with the female portion cut off , into the gland nut and then weld the crap out of it so it would now be an adaptor and you could still use the socket for what ever you choose. |

He died from cancer. You, however, are still alive. Care to defend this fine work?
At least it stays under the car where nobody can see 'em. _________________

im sorry i dont keep tabs on every single member here whos alive whos dead, hell i didnt even realize its a thread from years ago. that picture you posted of mine, looks fine to me. looks better in person, picture isnt that great. i feel i have nothing to defend... but keep it on subject, this is about welding a gland nut to a socket, not narrowed beams. and by the way, thats a 5 inch narrowed beam with shocktowers still intact, that fits nice under the car with out any modifications to the body. _________________ Gotta give my props to:

On subject? You've added nothing but criticism regarding the cosmetics of some welds, and for no other reason than to criticize cosmetics. And when Troy was alive, he was offering to help folks for free, cosmetics be damned. Since your crap smells like roses, I'm sure your welds will hold fine; but that big ol' glob of bubblegum at the base of the shock tower will be no less of a big 'ol glob of bubblegum in person. So, how about you give your bubblegum-chewer a rest already... _________________

Atleast it was about the topic at hand. I see no bubble gum on my beam. You may be confusing a 220mig welding 3/16 plate in a very shitty picture.. and im sure your use to looking at purtty aluminum tig welds. I weld for a living since I was 15. I know they will hold and they pass any structural or visual inspection. A lot of stuff I do gets looked over and even xrayed. Never a problem. Visual is a big part of welding, if it doesn't look good chances are it won't hold its own when properly tested.
To end this note, I am sorry if op was a friend, if not sorry to thosr who knew, lost plenty to cancer and it is not fun. Also seen a guy lose a leg because a weld broke and a peice swung over and took out his shin. Which is why I mentioned. A bad weld bothers me to no end, biggest pet peev. Sorry if criticism is one of yours. _________________ Gotta give my props to:
