What an AWESOME video! The delay of posting this video was great and an encourgement for getting everyone overseas motivate for both gatherings comping up. It truly is a sight to see so many of these rare birds all together at one spot. Truly amazing. |

As I was sorting out the parking, a BD Deluxe kept rolling in! I was like WTF!!?? With all the chaos going on with the parking situation, it was cool
to get all Deluxes in one spot. It was also an awesome site to see four 1950 Buses there as well. And two of them were vertical spare tire buses! And they all rolled in with their own power! On a side note, I’m pretty sure there was only one bus which was trailered there.
Interesting this thread came back up as I was talking to George Schmidt about last year’s gathering, and he made the comment of there should have been more at the show because most of the guys there own more then one Barndoor! Including George and myself. Regardless, it was an awesome show and an amazing turnout.
Florian – merci beaucoup mon ami. |

Sounds like you boys are feeling the heat of the European record attempt. Wishing you laid down some bigger numbers to chase |

Don’t know what you mean? This isn’t an East Coast Biggy vs West Coast Tupac thing!? This gathering wasn’t an intentional competition. It was a gathering of split window buses with an emphasis of pre 1955 Buses. Mentioned a conversation I had with a friend?? |

I know I'm only messin'
Nothing wrong with friendly competition though. Trying to 'beat' the awesome total you guys laid down is talked a lot about over here when referencing the next two meets.
If a friendly comp means bigger meets that can't be bad |

Trust me dude, there is nothing more exciting for a Barndoor owner to be amongst their kind. It truly is a treat, whether here or across the pond, to seeing them all lined up at the same event. If I had the means, believe me, I’d be out spectating at both of the upcoming events. It’s expensive for us Yanks to venture across the pond. Make LOTS of pictures! |

My only disappointment was that I didn't drive mine to the show. Didn't have the nerve to drive it 400 miles with only 1 working rear shock. But then I saw what others did (that pic of them coming down Hwy99 was incredible). So next time.....and I hope there is a next time, my '54's gonna be roadworthy. And I'll be leaving early and enjoying the drive. _________________ Happy to be alive. Hey Dad, Mom, wish you were here to see all this.

I didn't want to spend my time filming the gathering so i don't have lots of sequences but i thought it could be worth it to make a quick movie anyway, just to bring back some good memories from this wonderful event...
Sorry for those who don't have their bus in it, i stopped to film quickly to enjoy my time there !
Looking forward to be at the 1st European Barndoor Gathering and live such a big event again.
Cheers,

Awesome video Florian. Hopefully you can shoot some nice movie material at the 1st European Barndoor Gathering / BenPon.nl in Amersfoort as well. As it's two days there is more that enough time to do so! See you there dude. _________________ - AirMighty Megascene | The Aircooled VW Lifestyle Magazine
