Is there already a post about this event? I tried searching for it but came up with nothing. |

They are having the event at VMP (Virginia Motorsports Park) in Dinwiddie VA. Much nicer track! Plenty of parking and the bathrooms don't remind you of being in a horse stable. Supposedly there is a new track being built near Kings Dominion, but so far no word when it will be built. That is where they intend to have future Bugout due to Manassass closing. Until it is built they plan to have the Bugout at VMP. _________________ My 62 RHD Vert

this sucks, I'm so used to driving 35 minutes to Manassas. I was planning on driving the '59 beetle I'm trying to get ready for this show. Now it's an 1.5 hours away. |

I've got you all beat for the shortest drive. The BUG OUT has been 5 minutes from my house all these years.I drive my Thing to the show get a quick ride home and bring my dune buggy also. This move will put a stop to that just gotta decide which car to bring. They had a bugout at VMA many years ago. The only drawback i saw was that there was no way to escape the HEAT it was 90 degrees at 10 in the morning and got worse. It is a great facility.
The new track is still in the zoning phase and the fighting of the people that don't want it to happen. If it goes through it will still take a show season or 2 before it's complete. I personally think the spectator attendance will take a huge hit. Alot of people will miss it around here. Sorry for the long read. |

So, who is going? Is it worth a 200 mile hike? Anyone from the south coming for the first time? |

I plan on attending. its going to be 4 1/2 hour drive for me now so will prob stay at a hotel on Sat night. i look forward to trying out a new track. im always surprised at how little hype there is about this show. it is such a big show and draws so many cars every year yet there are so few that post. well unless its a negitive post.... then everyone wants to chime in. i hope to see the guys that refused to race at old track come to this event. the drag racing pay outs are pretty good i think. maybe one day i'll be lucky enough to take some money home. |

You're sooo fuchin rite! Lots of negativity about this event, but yet it's always filled to capacity. That's why i've always attended, the chit chatters on here dont go to events that thrive. Bug Out has always been the premeire show for debuts of show cars and racers. _________________ Knowledge is Power, Education is the Key....

There will be quite a few more drag cars due to the nicer track. |

Is anyone in the greater DC area interested in driving down together? I'm in Chantilly and plan to drive my 64 type II down early Sunday morning. |

I'm in Falls Church. I imagine a Springfield interchange location would be best for most. Giant Grocery store at 6426 Springfield Plaza? What time is good for you? Anyone else want to cruise? |

I'm thinking of going... haven't been before, but I just finished body work and paint on my bay window, and anxious to take a little trip. I'm about 4 1/2 hours away and would like to head there Saturday afternoon/evening. Does anybody know if there's a camper-friendly Walmart nearby or another place to park and crash Saturday night, without hassle? |

According to their Facebook page, Volkswagen Club of Tidewater (VCOT) is meeting at the Indian River Road park and ride in Virginia Beach Sunday morning at 7 AM and driving up together. Only about an hour and a half from here, instead of 3 1/2 to Manasas.
I might join them, it'll be the first time with my 69 'vert.
BTW, why is this NOT a sticky? _________________ I'm not losing my hair, it's just retired and relocating further south.
