Lowered, but going back to stock height soon. IMO, 18x8 is a bit too big for front. _________________ Its a mistress; an expensive, whiney, needy bitch of a mistress. Anyone tried to mount the Tiguan San Dieog wheel? The offset is a 33...should work pretty well

I have a few customers who have mounted those. You will need to open up the centerbores and run small ball seat lugs. The center caps wont fit front or rear on a 2wd and rear on a Syncro. |
I'm about to pick up a set of these as well. Just open the centerboard to the standard dimension you frequently list and I currently don't recall and run the small ball seat lugs?

That is correct! Bore the centers to 66.56mm to a minimum depth of 48mm, small ball seat front lug bolts and small ball seat rear lug nuts. That's it! _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

For those wheels, I would suggest the following for a 2wd application:
5mm front spacers
10mm rear spacers
Small ball seat front lug bolts
Longer rear wheel studs
Small ball seat rear lug nuts
You will also have to drill the lug holes out to 37/64". The center caps will fit just fine. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

These are the wheels/tires I just mounted.
Wheels were *barely* labeled as just 'CW' 5x112 bolt pattern but lug holes were *just* big enough to fit over the studs.
T3 Techniques hooked me up with longer studs for the rear and 10mm spacers. Front's were mounted without any change. (is this bad, since the rear now has a slightly wider track than the front?)
yea, it's a bay, but our wheels fit so I thought id share here (and this is the best wheel thread going anywhere on TS in terms of actual data and not just commentary) |

Picked up a set of rims originally from a 2000 kompressor c230. Et37 7jx16
They're 6 hole alloys.
205/55/16 tires
Will likely get 205/60/16 ?
I think I'll need 7mm spacer up front and 15 rear. I'm not sure of the stud and bolt length ill need. Nor what ball size. I got the old c230 lugs but I think they will be wrong.
Am I on the right track?
UH! 6 Hole? Don't think so! |
Not sure how to take Joseph's reply. Won't fit or if he's just one of those guys you have to get to know first. _________________ 1984 Vanagon Westfalia 1.9 wbx

I took it to mean that he's offended by the asymmetrical aesthetic of a 5-bolt wheel with 6 spokes |

Using a 37/64 drill bit I drilled the lugs out to accept vw studs and lugbolts.
used my longstroke airhammer to push the old wheel studs out, and pressed the new ones in the same way. The rear prep was pretty easy. Take off tire after breaking the hub nut loose. Took off the two 11 mm drum bolts and remove the hub. Pressed in studs and put back together.
The front I had to grind the lip off both grease caps to get the spacers I got from Chris. Looked and don't see any rubbing. Feels muuuuuch better than riding on sidewalls 8 inches thick, or more. _________________ 1984 Vanagon Westfalia 1.9 wbx

Hi,
What are the spacer requirements to mount these AND retain the center cap?
I can't find the information anywhere!
I know the stock wheels have an offset of 35mm...so theoretically, they'll bolt right on (once the center hub is cut.) I but that'd eliminate the center cap.
I hear the center bore must be to a depth of 48mm (from an earlier post.) Can I add a spacer to make up the difference?
VW Wellington
Size: 15" X 7"
Bolt Pattern: 5 X 112mm
Offset: 37mm

Hi,
I'd like to upgrade from stock rims on my 86 2wd weekender to larger 15" or 16" rims/tires. I like the VanCafe Carrot wheels, but shipping is brutal.
I found these Mercedes-Benz wheels:
Bolt pattern: 5x122
Rim width: 7
Rim diameter: 16
Rim material: alloy
Offset: 37
Factory OEM Part # 2034010302
with 205/55r16 Nokian Entyre XL tires.
http://anchorage.craigslist.org/pts/3572967941.html
Will these fit my van? I tried searching this thread, but there's a lot of matching posts that aren't this wheel. Sorry if I missed it.
What size spacers would I need? Different lugs? Longer studs? How about the center, would that need to be bored out? And could the M-B center cap be replaced with a VW cap?
Thanks,
Tyler |

Those MB wheels 2034010302 also use the Hollander #65211. Chris gives tips on mounting them in in this post in the Part Two continuation of this thread:

2008 AMG 18's. The wheels are like sculptures.... And they bolt right on. UNFORTUNATELY, they are just toooooo fricken big. They stick out past the fender an inch or so and it looks horrible. 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 is just too much wheel for the Westy. As I drove it around the block I could hear the van say, "seriously, what are you doing?"
Back to the drawing board. Looks great fron certain angles though.

Awesome look. But are you still running a WBX? Then keep the wheels and ditch the engine - time to upgrade to a Subie 2.5! |

These look great... would love to see them mounted with caps and know the details if it was possible.

Does anyone recognize this wheel? I've got two on the back of my syncro and the fronts are eurovan steelies. I like the look of them, I'd like them even better if I could track down a 16" set but for now I'd love to find two more. They are 15x6, I tried searching for the part number on the wheel but nothing came up. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I googled VW 701 601 027 and came up with T4 steelies.
