Hey everyone...thanks for the "pre-for sale" interest in the Westy. I spent 3 hours detailing the bus with a friend and we found that the passenger front side of the bus was hit at some point and the dog leg was replaced. There is additional shabby body work that was done to the A pilar, and the door was replaced with an earlier year (ice pike door handle).
There is more frame rot that we initially noticed as well...with all this being said I would not feel comfortable selling the bus to someone who has not actually see it in person, so I have sold the bus to a local restorer who has seen the bus and is fully aware and comfortable with making the necessary fixes.
Thanks a again for the interest.
Take care, Chadly

Found this jewel this past weekend, had been attempted to be made into a SC. I so needed an engine lid and it was perfect so I said how much for the front half since I got all that is good in the rear.
67 Model. Has workable parts, just a little rust above the outrigger but solid bulkhead. Seats were super nice.

is there a large un-tapped market for single-cab conversions? _________________ regards

I'm About to FIND out!
Heck no, unless the roof was destroyed I have no idea why they did it. The drivers rear corner was in decent shape. _________________ JLD

Buses get cut up for a variety of reasons. My previous bus was "solid" and pretty much un-hit over the top. However, the chassis was simply desintegrating! I had replaced a huge chunk of it forward, aft and including part of the tube which holds the rear torsion bar on the passenger side. That "fix" lasted a few more years but it all started failing again, as well as the driver's side!!!
By the time I got the walkthrough and started swaping the running gear, I realized that it wasn't safe to put that one back on the road. It was then dicided to make it a donor bus to save others which it did. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

I stopped by a yard tonight that i remembered used to have a row of buses sitting in the woods. Well it turns out he's sold a few over the years and junked a couple out. He does still have a '68-69 deluxe bay, a '71 westy and a '64-66 11 window. No engines in any or titles but it sounds like i'll be able to pick them up for real cheap. Will be pics of the split if i do end up getting them. _________________ '70 ghia

My Pops bought the '67 SO-42 yesterday. My mom has wanted a camper so she is even excited about this project, I told my dad he had to get it because of that.

Here's a 63 double Chester that I was able to bring home from the original owners garage where it has sat since 1982. The 90 yr old man had bout it new and use it as his personal work truck for his local house rentals/reality business. He claims the original motor was rebuilt and running great just before he parked it. He said the front had gotten hit pretty hard while parked along the street back In and or around 1975 and he had a local shop replace the nose, and it appears that the donor nose and bumper came from an ealr bullet nose European deluxe bus , by the looks of the bumper trim and tunrsignals. Overall the bus is very very solid and the gates and bed look lime they've hardly been used. When then front end was replaced the painted the entire bus with some kickass qualiy paint! And most of it should come off fairly eas to reveal the og white under it. I think I will leave the bullets on e nose get her down to the og white and blend a lil whit on the new nose to match and drive the wheels off it this summer!

Wow, it's not often that you can buy a '60s era vehicle from the original owner. Congrats. _________________ Copyright CJ Industries, Inc.

Decided to take the boy bus hunting today to find a long lost bus in the high desert.
It was abandoned in the 80's, stripped in the 90's, and deemed
lost forever and inaccessible after a fire AND a flash flood ripped through
it's area in the early 2000's. After a few unsuccessful trips over the last few
years she has been found again. Not sure how to get it out of there whole
without a helicopter, so maybe a generator and a sawzall will end the story
some day... Or I will leave it there for seed and hope it spawns more
lovely buses for us all to find another day...

Nice story and photos House...Be nice to see it roll another day. Great looking Bronco! Once upon a time I had a pretty nice '77 that was stolen and torched about seven years ago...I raised my kids in that Bronco...sorry, almost forgot this was a bus hunting thread...

Thanks. Your Bronco story and photos bring a tear to my eye and hatred in my heart. Sometimes people really do suck.

Yes indeed. It was good father/son bonding time.
I am thinking about building a basic trailer that has some decent approach
angles, good articulation, ground clearance, no fenders, and a low center of gravity
with a bus strapped on top of it... |
