I was 12.

Bought it for $200 cause the fenders were cherry and I figured they alone were worth that. Hopelessly rotted, but drove it around the fields for a couple years, learned a bunch tearing it apart and made a killing selling parts. Good memories. Smile

This was my first beetle, a 1970 I bought for $85. I was 17 (22 years ago), it didn't run, had flared fiberglass fenders cragar rims up front and some aluminium slots out back. It had blown air shocks so there were deep groves in the G60 tires out back. This is the day we first got it running, it lasted two weeks then the motor let go, got another motor then the wiring harness burnt up and it never ran again. I wish I had more pics because I thought that car looked so cool!!

Sorry, Haven't visited this thread in a while, but no I bought this back in 1985 from a guy in shrub oak ny. Although I don't know where he got it from...

Here is my first, bought at age 16, sold at 20. I don't have a digital before image. Lots of things I would do differently.

I own a 72 super now. I wish I had the expendable income of a high school kid working 30 hour weeks again.

My super rotten '74 standard I bought when I was 15. I loved this car so much.

The floor under the back seat was pretty much gone and in the winter it would scoop up snow and recirculate it through the car. It was kind of like driving around in a snow globe.

I got my first (and only) ACVW back in 1996 ... this is me and some friends back in high school, probably around '97.

I've had her the whole time, so she is still my first VW. I'm very excited to get her back on the road! She's close to being complete ...
