|
|
what is causing my oil filler to leak? It is dripping onto the manifold - I checked the oil filler cap - rubber gasket is still plyable and it seems to close properly. I have the stock oil bath air filter.
I doubt the picture provides any clues, but here it is (and before you comment - I did have the hose and the cap on it!)

Nut inside holding it on not tight or a rust hole at the bottom were water would lay. |

Ron - thanks for the reply. I didn't know there was a nut inside that filler...can't see one. Been reading about "blow by" on the samba. Excessive crankcase pressure? |

There is a big hollow nut that holds the filler to the tower, it takes a special tool to loosen and tighten. There is also a gasket between the filler and tower that dies with age.
Yes too much crankcase pressure will cause leaks. |

Mine does the same thing sometimes. I THINK my filler has a whole in the underside. It does it when I pour oil in it too fast too. |

FYI you can use an internal pipe wrench to R&R the oil filler securing nut.
You can pick these up at just about any hardware store.
