I have a diesel bell housing that my rebuilder didn't want to reuse because there is some material worn off the end of the "clutch fork" arms. It seems pretty minimal, but maybe it does render this bellhousing useless? What do you guys think? If it can't/shouldn't be used in its current state can this be repaired?

Here are some pics,

I think that if it was deemed necessary to do so, that that whole arm can be replaced. I remember reading somewhere about it - I think its a PITA to get out and that the bushings sometime need replacing - but - I'm sure it comes out.

Recently had my bellhousing off. It has around 135k miles on it, and shows slightly less wear. No clutch issues to speak off.

I would think the problem might be uneven wear? Hard to tell from the photo, but those surfaces must be even or the TOB could bind.

A welder/machinist would be able to add material to that shaft.

That's not a diesel bell-housing.

The arm can be replaced.

You just saved me a lot of embarrassment, well, I'm thoroughly embarrassed here on the Samba, but at least I'm not embarrassed elsewhere as well.

Thanks for the info guys Smile
