I'm here and I'm in your pics.

He reposted my pics from my FB under my real fake name "Van O. Rama" w/ permission. He was referring to ZyngaDoka, aka the Nosepicker.

You must be in the 50% of the folks I didn't meet yesterday. Now pay attention. See those portapotti's? Watch how's my people emerge w/ using the sinks provided just outside of those things. I must have seen a dozen people walk right out and go about eating lunch and shaking hands all over the place. Come to think of it, I did NOT see anybody wash their hands after. Yikes!

Hey Tim. Yeah, what he said. I reposted his images from Fakebook under my real fake name Nick Jeffries. I am worried about Mary~O and all of that nose picking after what you said BenT.
I thought some people got cell reception at the site at the top of the
hill? Where are all the pics? I am doing my part by keeping the power on for you guys Rolling Eyes

Your Royal Zestiness,

I am already 325.1 miles away from "the hill". IIRC correctly, Andrew P. had his massive rig/home on wheels was providing free wifi for everyone. Which makes it surprising that nobody else has made and early report. My fruitPhone w/ ArrTee'nTee service don't get service until I was 1/4 mile out of the main campground. I suspect people are just enjoying being electronically disconnected for a change.

As I said previously, it's some of the same as previous years. Maybe just more bodies. I spoke to the same guys who I first met during the 1st Syncro De Mayo (except SyncroDoka and organizers of SdM) Twisted Evil There guys with tripods and fancy cameras taking pics of people during their rigs through the frame twister - just like previous years. GW jump house, concession stand, etc. I did like Stephan's Autohaus' trailer made from an aircooled Vanagon with a 1.8T demonstrator in it. Then there was bArley's recent build as shown in pics. Nothing much new to see but lots of new folks to talk to. I didn't get a chance to hit the trail because SyncroDoka wasn't there to give me a ride! Crying or Very sad

On a serious note i heard that Matt Quilter's(awesome surf guitar guy) syncro westy burned to the ground on the way up to the event. Crying or Very sad
He got out with his guitar, the wife, a wallet and the clothes on their backs.
Another unfortunate loss of a rare syncro but they are safe Sad

Will post pix of the fest tomorrow.

On a serious note back, I saw that....WOW!
Sounds like he got a lot of stuff out, but, the fire just took off so he had to let everything burn just as he had gotten it out.

Quote:
We escaped with one guitar, two speakers, one laptop, Patty's purse, and the clothes on our back. While I was able to get most of our gear out of the car, it all burned on the side of the road when the car exploded. There was just no time to drag it clear. All our clothes, camping stuff, most of my music gear, cameras, GPS, and of course the Westy, everything gone in an agonizing instant. Total elapsed time from blackout to full involvement was maybe 2 minutes. By the time PD and FD arrived, the whole hillside was on fire.

Glad everyone is OK Crying or Very sad

Yeah, Syncro.org posted a horrifying pic of the blaze on Fakesbook. I assume it came from Matt Quilter himself. I'd repost here but need permission from whoever took that pic. Wink

It's not the dirt inside I'm worried about.

BTW, my buddy Jero drove his van to SF. We went 99.1 miles from my house to Hollister and about 10 miles of unexpected offroad excursion which I shan't mention WHERE. Then drove back toward by house. Right at the end of the freeway exit we get a loud BANG! Engine blew all the oil out of it's sump. Later he discovered a loose drain plug. It's hard to consider the incident "lucky" since the engine is probably history. But then we could have been at SF or in transit during those 200+ miles when it happened. It would have cost more than the $125 he paid for that inline-4 gasser which has lasted fairly well all year.

I saw it but didn't take any pix. The calipers are pretty large.
Jon slider won a set in the raffle so he can give details.
