CAUTION: Thread may include foul language, smoking, drinking, available recreational narcotics, and the images of pure norf carolina poverty to which may include nudity, criminal behavior, and the total disrespect of religion.

OK. We only get a few hours a week to work on this thing. It started life as a decent 63 canvas top bug. Then an old woman in a new Cadillac smashed it up. We then took a rusted out shell of a 56 (dash, cowl, doors) and started surgery.

I will post more pictures soon but now we are working on the floor pans so thats gonna be the first pics. Just needed a place to start putting these pics. Very Happy

Now the pan edges are in DP90 and ready to weld together. Next will be putting in the recess for the pan fasteners.

Some of the parts that were made.

Steering arm for the flipped steering box. Made from laminated 1/4" plate. 3 pieces make a 3/4" thick arm. Cut the clamping area from an original arm and turned it around backwards.

Here's how it fits. Going to use grease "dough" instead of liquidy oil in the steering box. You can see the old oil is leaking onto the leaf spring.

Gas Tank.

Repo Ford Model T Gas Tank sits up front like so. Gas tank has threaded outlet. Gas cap is a threaded brass spinner.

DIY Gas Tank Brackets. Made from 4 separate pieces but they match up and butt welded great. DP90 for now.

DP90 looks like shit right when you spray it. But it dries pretty.

A view of the tank area. There are inner panels that meet the elements. Then there are interior panels both front and back. We gots a hood prop too. It's shaped to fit over the gas tank.

The area where the fenders bolt on has been removed. Tranny raised 2" and the torsion housing raised 1-1/2".

Took a stock 40 Ford dash, stripped it down, and made a plaster mold in order to make a fiberglass version for the bug. After the fiberglass copy was dry, it was narrowed and then shaped on top and ends to fit over a stock oval dash.

Applause

Cool idea using the 40 Ford dash.

I'm really liking the Hot Rod style of the build.
