I recently did the rear brakes on my '91 GL. I had pulsating on the first 2 sets of BRAND NEW chinese made drums. Finally on the third set I tried (Zimmerman - made in Germany and more expensive). The problem completely disappeared. There's ALOT of garbage aftermarket parts out there these days.

I just went through this with a new set of SA "heavy duty" drums.

I did not have them checked before installation, last fall. Careful torquing had no effect. As the pulsation seemed to be getting more noticeable, last week I took the drums in to the machine shop. They were both out a bit, one more so than the other.

This after about 4000 miles on the new drums.

They cut them a tiny bit, ID is still well within Bentley specs, and more importantly the braking is now smooth and sure.

Thanks to the samba and this thread another problem worked through!
