Yes, the front beam is narrowed 4" w/ adjusters...

If I did it again, I'd install a 3" narrowed beam

UPDATE:

Like a big idiot I must have bent/kinked a rod bearing...#2 rod will not seat properly. A big thanks to my buddy at Aircooled Research for sending me another rod to verify that the rod was ok. Crank journal is dead nuts, I just need to be more careful when cleaning the bearing before installing it on the rod.

Below is a project I've been working on for awhile, and I was going to wait until the end caps came in, but here they are...solid rocker shafts

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I milled the ends of the original rocker shafts, tapped them, and then polished the shaft. The solid spacer is made of 9Chrome alloy and shims are hardened (shims). It was a bit of a learning experience and I actually went thru 4 shafts. I'm happy with the end result, hopefully they will work great.

I really wish I could answer your question...I think the torque increase will be the most noticeable difference

I have been told is should react as good or better than a 1600DP. I'm hoping the torque will be better than that...

I like the caps, but would also look good with no caps or with chrome caps! It'd be good to see how it looks once you have all the body trim on.

My caps are chrome with stainless 'hot rod' trim rings...also on black wheels....but my car isn't anything like as clean as yours!

Just a few notes...

When checking the clearance from the cam bolts to the oil pump, I was out of tolerance (.060") and had to grind a bit on the oil pump housing

The sump plate adapter hit the "humps" on the bottom of case where the case bolts are on each side of the adapter...had to grind them down.

Just items you should check before you getto the stage I'm at...it stinks having to take stuff apart to clean again. Lesson learned

loving this thread. i hope your heads turn up soon.

personally i don't really understand the all black wheel look, but have you considered something like these to give a little more definition if you run hubcaps?

I'd love to try those...where can you find them?

I was thinking of adding a white "pin stripe" around the perimeter of the rim...but these may work better

1.5 Qt Sump installed

First, Scat's sumps are extremely nice, but if anyone is going to install a sump on a 36HP please contact me. This way you can learn from my mistakes.

Scrapping off Gorilla Snot is a major pain in the butt. The studs on the adapter do not work with Scat sumps because the clearance between the holes and sidewall. 6mm nuts are too big, which is why Scat supplies (nice) hex head screws. Unfortunately, they are a major pain to install in such a tight space. I had to modify an allen wrench (dramatically) to make this work

Gene Berg Has A 36HP sump that looks old school but that scat one looks Shiny...
The oil pump is it stock or an aftermarket?
Been searching all the site for one that would improve the flow on the 36HP.
Not going full flow like you since I'm going with a dual carb set up and one of those Fram Oil Canister set ups with the oil coil cooler behind the Fan housing.

The Scat sump is really top notch...

The oil pump is a 6mm stud with 26mm gears

Look up Steve-o, Central Texas Autoworks

I'm sure there are other sources though

UPDATE:

Supercharger on hand, had to make modifications to the Carb Linkage since I'm using a 30 Pict 1 carb in lieu of the 28 PCI carb the kit is designed for.

Quality is excellent, instructions could be better, but Ray has responded to my questions.

One note, the Main Jet does not come with the kit...there is also a ton of hardware, the belts, etc that I did not take a picture of. The kit really does come complete, and if you run the 28PCI carb, it would be a very simple add on

Like the hub caps but, I think it might also look nice if you went with just a bit lighter color of black instead of the white "VW" maybe even a dark gray color.
