Is this a test layout? it's really distracting.

It's not a test, it's to make it easier and faster to grab the links for Forum usage.
I also added a "Show my Gallery photos" link to the Topic Reply screen so you can bring up your own photos in a new window quickly to grab one or more links.
I could put them along the bottom edge of each row.
My opinion is that would be more intrusive.
I've already sort of blanked it out as I only read the left side anyway.
It also has the benefit of limiting the width of super long descriptions, which is easier to read if you have a wide browser window as they will be wrapped at the edge of it's now narrower column.
Additional feedback welcome... _________________ How to Post Photos

having the boxes on the sides is the distracting part. i, personally, don't see the need for this change. i personally don't need every site option accessible on every page. this is already one of the easiest sites to navigate without having to be spoon fed links to everything all the time.
it may be alright for people who add short or no descriptions with their pics, but when longer descriptions get posted, it looks cluttered and disjointed. sample:

Not for me...it doesn't bother me. I see you've removed the "Photo Link" box Ev, which I rarely use anyway. In fact I'd find it useful if the "Forum Code" box was added under the picture in the "Grid" format as I often draw up a large number of pictures in a Gallery search to post as examples in a topic. Having the code displayed in the grid format would speed things up.
I'm afraid spoon feeding has always been a forum feature Jon. _________________ John.

Can you add a "next" button when viewing full size photos? It would make it easier when viewing event photos or photos that are in a series.
I like the new gallery format BTW. |

Yes, I thought about it and realized the "Photo Link" is not needed on the summary pages so that is gone.
I also noticed the "Forum Code" text was wrapping in the screen captures above.
I did not realize this happened in Firefox so this is corrected.
The text interferes less with the longer descriptions now, if that was a concern.

Yes, this is added too.

Unfortunately the Next/Previous stuff has never worked right in this Gallery so I had to disable it.
I typically just go down the list opening the photos I want to see in a New Tab. Ctrl+Mouse Click to open a new tab is very fast (except in Internet Explorer)
Thanks for the additional feedback _________________ How to Post Photos

I find the new changes to be helpful when using the site. I also like the link to your gallery that appears underneath the message box when you are posting a message. I think that this should make it easier for members who are using the site from their phones to post pics in their posts. |
