I just picked up a small nut bus tranny that was in a baja bug. I want to put it back into another bug. The drums are missing. Can I use bug drums and just add a spacer behind the castle nut? Can I just put bug backing plates and all on the reduction boxes? I tried searching, but didn't come up with much. Thanks

Other than the snout being shorter, why wont the drums work? I am talking about 68 4 lug bug drums.

Thanks

lol.......I am sure you are right, but could you be a little more specific? I read somewhere that a small nut bus drum could be fitted to a late bug by milling the snout down and the outer lip on the edge so I assume the brake shoes are the same size. Is it because the drum will not slide on far enough?

bus brake shoes are wider then bug brake shoes by 1/16" so a bug drum will not slide on all the way
