Was the only thing at SoWo 2013 this weekend that wasn't lowered. Allowed me to camp at the top of a mountain though as no lowered guys could go up the logging road without doing serious damage! Visually speaking, I like the lowered stance on a bus... but no way I would change my 67. Riding stock is just the way it is meant to be...

I hear you, Sdmjake.
When my '62 Panel gets back on the road it's staying at standard ride height.
I do a bit of dirt road and paddock driving and it frustrates me that my '67 is too low.
Some AT pattern tyres should make it a great vehicle for camping off the beaten track a little. _________________ Cheers & God Bless

I am running Hankook street tires - 195 / 75 / 14. [I figure they are pretty much the modern version of what woulda come on it.] I do like the idea of getting a 'grabber' off road tread on the next set. |

I agree, those 670's look great on a bus! Big fat bias plies are this years rubber bands. Stock height is where its at. _________________ Independent German Auto

Thanks for the kind words.
Buuuuuut.....today, I had another screamin' deal on some BFGs.....long story short.....Bias ply tires are now in the garage and the Westy is ready for some backroads.
No rubbing, no issues, no bending.....like butter.

Those 215's look dope. Have the same set sitting in my garage waiting for my rims to come back from powdercoating.
Love the look! |

Get a set of General Grabby 27x8.5R14's. Taller than stock and slightly meaty. Good looking tire. Search through this thread, there are multiple people running that tire. |

I'm running the General Grabber AT2's. great tire, great fit, and the 14" General actually has a slightly larger outside diameter than the BFG. |

I would have to disagree on this one.The bias really set this bus off, from a period standpoint. The nice thing is tires can easily be swapped. _________________ Defying conventional wisdom since 1970 |

BFG A-T 215/75R15
Stock suspension, rolled the rear fender lip to make the tires slip in a little easier.
Just over thirteen inches from ground to steering box.
Cant say how it rides as the bus isn't currently road worthy. _________________ 1959 Panel |

^^^^ Yes!
They ride great! Mine is nice and smooth. Little bit of road noise, but hey, it's a bus. _________________ Beto
