Don't know if industrial is really the right clasification for aftermarket (i.e. hurst) type bumpers.
I'm looking for options of what has been made for split busses. I really like the beefy look up front on a bus (I like the nose/knee protection idea also!).
Any pics you have would be great. |

I'm pretty sure mine is home made. The radius around the front is very well done and symetrical though. The grill part has hit some stuff in the past for sure. The tubes are all bent and uneven.
It was on a friend of mines BD singlecab. The thing was welded to the frame where the bumper brackets go so i did him a favor and cut it off for him  fabbed a couple of brackets and welded them up.
The thing weighs a ton and swapping to it from the stock bumper makes the front tires hit the top of the wheelwells all the time.

my guess is when someone posts "try the search button" they have no information to offer or they do have the info to offer, but won't take the time to offer it.
there was a really cool industrial bumper that was at OCTO for $45. i was gonna grab it but just forgot. it was homemade, very cool and cheep. besides hursts which are hard to come by, VWoA made a version or two of a cattlecatcher type bumper for both the front and rear. the rear covered the engine lid as well and had a fold down gate that could be dropped to access the engine lid. i have two different versions. i'd get them out and take some pictures but they are kinda buried.
bice bumpers are also cool and still reasonable in price. i sold a set for $250. cheaper than a pair of nice factory bumpers.

I've noticed that recently Bice bumper prices have been going up up up. Please don't tell me this means that homemade goofy bumpers are going to start fetching $100+.

| Are the bice bumpers a solid chunk of steel bent to shape. They kidna look like a long strip of 3/8 or 1/2x4 bent to fit the front. How much do they weigh. |

this bumper addition came on my 59 double cab... i'd trade it off for some other items (or cash).

they're a big fatty piece of c-channel. at the ends the upper and lower lip are cut off at an angle and the face is bent in and welded to them.
i haven't weighed mine, but i wouldn't want to pay to ship it. they're pretty heavy. |

i figured the upper was, but i thought maybe the blade it self was a bice. but looking at ronnie's i thought the same thing, so it's probably all in my head. |

ronnie, or anybody else with a bice, could I get you to take some measurement's of the c-channel including material wall thickness.
I figure I can get started making a homebrew "ghetto-bice", unless the wall thickness is to thick to shape with a torch |

Yeah they look easy enough. I've got an old bumper that will work perfect for shaping. I was wondering if bice did any notching to help pull the c-channel to shape  |

My front:
There is a rear that folds down, as UZI mentioned
They may or may not be VW of America-made but I have pictures of this set in a VW brochure. There are no Vw markings that I can find in the metal.
