|
|
I'm looking for some ideas about ways to better utilize the space under the bench seat.
I've removed my stock heater from that position ( I have a Propex under my TruckFridge), and have 100 amp hour deep cycle Trojan battery on the passenger side. Basically, there is a lot of space there and I want to use it better.
Presently, everything that goes under there just piles up in a big mess: jumper cables, tool bag, spare oil, assorted small parts, camping gear, etc.
The only person I know to try something like this is Ben (aka ftp2leta), who made a pretty sweet dividing system. (Ben, I hope it's cool that I use your image here)
I am thinking of something like this, but more modular, like maybe with C-channel metal, so the dividers can be easily moved around as different size objects get stored there for different trips.
If anyone here has done this or have some ideas, please share your comments and pictures.
Thanks,

mine has the flip down door from the 80-81 vans
I have a divider that allows me to get my BBQ grill or Butane stove from the front w/o having to lift the seat/open the bed.
I have seen one image where the small cubby door by the water tank was added to the rear bench by the sliding door.. _________________

That's a cute little propane tank. 5# perhaps?
I like THAT access to the seat. My bench has car seats on it, which means I'm just storing stuff that we only need when parked for camping...If I ever find a Vanagon at the junk yard, oh the things I will take!

And, they put that heating duct in such a PITA spot, I can't even lay my jack in there flat, it's annoying and messes up the space!

I had not seen that other thread, thanks for pointing in that direction.
Herr Moderators, feel free to lock this one if you want to.

Will do so that we can keep rear seat storage ideas in one place.
Will also update that post of mine tomorrow (did end up removing the rear heater) when the van gets moved back into the garage. _________________ ~Kamz
